The raw material for Europe's future technologies
In the heart of Saxony, Deutsche Quarz AG is developing the Brauna Field 1 deposit – one of the most significant deposits of high-purity quartz in Germany. With a resource of approximately 24.3 million tons, the site forms the basis for a long-term supply of one of the most important strategic raw materials to European industry.
The modern open-pit mine is operated according to the highest environmental, safety and sustainability standards and supplies the raw material for the production of high-purity silicon.

Refinery & High-Purity Silicon Center
From quartz to 6N high-purity silicon
At the second project site, a state-of-the-art refinery is being built to produce 6N high-purity silicon (99.9999 per cent purity).
Here, the extracted quartz is processed using state-of-the-art purification, crystallisation and refining processes to create one of the most valuable materials in the high-tech industry.
The production facility combines energy-efficient processes, cleanroom technology and state-of-the-art automation, thereby creating one of the most innovative silicon production facilities in Europe.
